School Choice…let the parents decide!
School choice is a hot political issue this election season. Friday evening, at a well attended “Coffee and Conversation” event with Colorado 6th Congressional District candidate Wil Armstrong, parents of Cherry Creek Academy, a local charter school expressed concerns about recent state legislation that would have removed several million dollars from Colorado Charter school budgets across the state.
Armstrong, a local business man in Arapahoe County Colorado agreed that parents should have a choice in how their children are educated. “I believe that parents know what’s best for their children and should have the option of deciding how they are educated.” With his strong entrepreneurial background, Armstrong hopes to attract those voters who are tired of the status quo in Congress and want someone with real world experience. “I am not a career politician,” he stated, “I am a business man and a family man; I know what it’s like to meet a payroll of hundreds and I know what it’s like to make tough choices.”
He joked with the crowd, “It’s different when you sign the front of a paycheck …not just the back, I think Congress could benefit from citizen legislators who understand the difference.”
Great point!
